There are over
90 insurance agent designations that can be obtained, but which ones are
important? For example, you have heard of the
insurance designation CLU, but do you recognize insurance designations
such as AEP or CSFSA? Here we will cover some of the best known and
newer insurance agent designations focusing on Life Insurance,
Annuities, Retirement Planning, Health & Group, and the LTC (long term
care) insurance areas. The insurance agent designations are listed in an order
not necessary by rank. This is because a
specialist working the senior market might
think his insurance designation more important than one selling life insurance.
And of course the opposite is very likely. Thanks to the continuing education requirements of state insurance department licensing. CE has become a major impact of agents getting insurance designations. Since agents must obtain additional CE credits to maintain their license, they can do so by study courses, attending qualified insurance seminars, or working toward receiving one of the many insurance designations. An important sideline of this applies to agent retention. The industry agent retention rate of agents 4 through 10 years, has improved because of agents obtaining insurance designations. These insurance designations and better retention rate can be directly contributed to the continuing educational requirements to make agents more professional.
